Borderline Fluent™ privacy policy

Borderline Fluent is an Android game published by Lampensoft, operated by Fluffy Pants Studio LLC. The game runs on your phone and sends me nothing.

Effective October 7, 2026.

In short

  • Your voice, camera frames and passport photo are processed on your phone. The app never uploads them.
  • The app has no internet access: it doesn’t request Android’s internet permission.
  • No account, ads, analytics or crash reporting. I receive no personal data from the app, and nothing is sold or shared.

Permissions

  • Microphone, to hear your spoken answers.
  • Camera, for the passport photo and, if you allow it, for the officers to read your face.
  • Network state, only to warn you when a download needs a connection. It doesn’t give the app internet access.

Your voice

Your spoken answers are recognised on the phone. Audio isn’t stored or sent anywhere, unless you turn on “Save recordings and logs” (see below). Google ML Kit Language Identification, built into the app, checks on the phone which language an answer is in.

Your face during interviews

On the passport screen, “Let officers read my face” is on by default; you can change it there or in Settings. When it’s on, the front camera is analysed on the phone (face position, blinks and expressions) so the officers can react. Frames aren’t stored or sent.

Passport photo

The game asks you to take a passport-style photo with the front camera for your in-game passports, or to pick a built-in sample face. Your photo is stored only on the phone, in the app’s private storage, excluded from Android backup and device transfer. It is never uploaded or logged. You can retake or delete it in Settings, and it is removed when you uninstall the game.

Save recordings and logs

This setting is off unless you turn it on. When it’s on, the game keeps your voice recordings and a game log, which can include face-reading measurements, in the app’s private storage on the phone. They are excluded from Android backup and device transfer and are deleted when you uninstall the game.

Downloads and Google services

Gemini Nano, which runs the officers, and the on-device speech recognition models are provided and downloaded by Android system services (AICore and Private Compute Services). The game’s language packs and optional speech model are delivered by Google Play. These services are run by Google under the Google Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy .

Changes

If this policy changes, I’ll update this page and its effective date.
